Updating Flash Player (Adobe Shockwave add-on) on a Windows 8 or 8.1 system could be an annoying issue for some users. In fact, from Windows 8/8.1 this precious and sometimes very useful add-on can be updated only from Windows Update service, unlike earlier versions.
NOTE: you will find all the download specified in this article even on HeelpBook (as a mirror).
NOTE: if you are a Windows RT (tablet) user, you can get the updates only through the Windows Update mechanism (internet required).
To correctly update this plugin (BHO - Browser Helper Object) in Internet Explorer 11 do the following: download from the following links the correct version for your system (Windows 8 or Windows 8.1):

Enable Flash Player
After the installation, ensure that Flash Player is enabled. Open the page that has the rich media content in Internet Explorer, like Youtube or similar video streaming websites.
Click the Tools menu, in the upper-right corner of Internet Explorer.
From the Tools menu, choose Manage Add-ons.
Select Shockwave Flash Object from the list.
NOTE: ensure that your current website has rich media content. If the current website does not contain rich media content, Shockwave Flash Object doesn't appear in the list.
Click Enable, and then click Close.
Disable ActiveX Filtering
Open the page that has rich media content in Internet Explorer. Click the Tools icon and choose Safety > ActiveX Filtering as shown below:
Close the browser and open it. Then, try to view the content.
